Whitney Ward is a professor here at Snow College. He specialises in outdoor leadership, backpacking, and wilderness first responder classes. During the spring, Whitney can be found winter camping, backcountry skiing, and even snowshoeing.
Professor Ward takes his job very seriously. As a former EMT, he teaches his students how to enjoy outdoor activities while maintaining a high standard for safety. His goals are for students to enjoy their outdoor activities and know how to handle things if they don’t go as planned.

In his Wilderness First Responder class, Ward teaches his students how to assess, plan, and care for patients in the wild. He uses everyday relatable problems, to better resonate with his students. Including average eating habits of college students, typical illnesses, and even activities the students do.

In 2023, Ward was the first COE of the year to be certified by the WEA (Wilderness Education Association).  Ward received his PhD in Leisure Behavior with an emphasis in Adventure Education and Minor in Business Management from Indiana University.

Masters in Outdoor Education Administration from Georgia College and State University BS in Forestry from Utah State University, and his Applied Associates of Science in Recreation Education from Ricks College (BYU-Idaho)

For all students looking to take an outdoors class, try Whitney Ward. There are plenty of classes he teaches, so there is something for everybody. His overall rating on rate my professor is a 4.8 and 89% of students say they would gladly take his classes again. With only a 2.7 in difficulty rating, Ward tries to make his classes fun and helpful.
