After her long reign, Queen Elizabeth passed away at the age of 96 on September 8, 2022. The official UK website states, “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.”
She ruled for almost 71 years, becoming the longest ruling Monarch Britain has ever had. Throughout her rule she reigned over 32 different sovereign states. At the time of her passing she was still ruling over fifteen.
With Queen Elizabeth ruling as long as she did, her passing left people around the world in shock. Lexi Good, a student at Snow College, says, “It’s rattling to have a figure who’s been around for so long to be gone. It’s like a hole in the world.” It also left people wondering what will happen next in the Monarchy and for the UK.
After her death her son, Charles, took over as king which will lead to many events taking place in the UK. Rutgers.edu said, “Over the next weeks, we’ll get to witness the long-scripted series of rituals that will mark the end of one reign and the beginning of the next.”
Queen Elizabeth's passing is causing feelings of loss across the world. It will lead to many changes in the UK and their Monarchy.
