On January 26, the GRIT Center at Snow College’s Business Building, allowed business majors to pitch their ideas for the chance to win up to 500 dollar prizes for their business.

The night showcased eight competitors, each aiming to present their products. The prizes were divided into three goals which could be stacked, mile one, two, and three. In their presentations, each competitor went over how they identified customers, persevered through business challenges, and tested their products.

The event provided refreshments, raffle tickets for prizes, and games in between presentations. In the end, audience members were given the chance to vote for their favorite pitch while the judges determined each competitor met goals.

Russ Tanner, director of the GRIT Center, announced the placements. Nicolas Ziadi won the audience vote with his idea, Global Essentials, a company that would make international products more affordable for international students at Snow.

Following this Tanner listed the competitors who reached Mile 1, awarding them 100 dollars. Those winners are Sam Harding, Bishwas Thapa, Tatiana Starostina, Korben Cos and Wayne Blaylock, Amanda Gawa, Rye Palmer, Andes Chan, and Nickolas Ziadi.

The Mile 2 winners with an additional reward of 150 dollars are Bishwas Thapa with his idea WebBisu, a website builder for small companies, and Korben Cos and Wayne Blaylock with their idea of Fairview Shuttles, a service for those who are looking for a way to carpool up ski slopes.

Isabella Williamson, an international student said, “I liked it, I came to support a friend.” Raeden Semadeni stated, “It was really eye-opening to see what other students my age were accomplishing. It made me feel like I might also have the capacity to do similar things.”

The GRIT Center also announced their next Bootstrap entry deadline on February 8th. The next competition will be held on February 22nd.
