If all of your friends joined a club, would you join too?
Are you looking for a way to enhance the college experience, make new friends, and feel less overwhelmed? Experts from various universities encourage students to join a club and get involved while in school. They say that joining a club will “enrich your college life” (Iowa Valley Community College) and create meaningful experiences.
So how exactly will it enrich the college experience? Joining a club can build friendships and create opportunities and experiences that can’t be found anywhere else. It can also be a stress reliever and improve mental health. On top of that, club experience is a great resume builder as it shows dedication, skill development, and even leadership. This can open more doors for internship and job opportunities as well as valuable connections.
Not only do experts suggest that joining a club is beneficial, but students themselves have shared similar experiences. For example, Romney Andreasen, from the Clogging Club, Kicking Up Snow, said that she has benefited from being in a club because of the social aspect and because it is “high energy and it’s a stress reliever during this chaos of school and homework…”
Joining a club can be a huge stress reliever as well as a great outlet where you can make new friends and have fun. Autumn Pipes, from the Western Swing Club expressed that she loves being part of Swing because she loves “having a place to go each week where I can enjoy dancing with a bunch of people who love it too.”
Joining a club can help students find a community, build connections, make new friends, and feel a sense of belonging. Being part of a club can also help reduce stress and improve mental health, while still enriching the college experience and improving resumes. College is about more than just classes, it’s about making connections and memories that last a lifetime. What better way to do that than joining a club? So the real question is, if all of your friends join a club, will you join too?
