The fall season is officially here. It is the perfect time to pick out shows and movies to get in the fall mood.
Whether you are in the mood for a Halloween classic, rom-com, sitcom, or everything in between, a show or movie is perfect for a fall night. Find a comfortable area, pick out your favorite blanket, and grab a few snacks. You can watch with a group of friends, your roommate, or by yourself. It is time to get cozy.
Halloween is the main thing on people's minds when the fall season arrives. There are the Halloween classics, Hocus Pocus, GhostBusters, The Adams Family, Beetlejuice, Casper, and Halloween Town. The jack-o-lanterns, costumes, ghosts, and spooky magic make these movies fun to watch. Fall wouldn’t be fall without Halloween movies.
You can’t go wrong with the classics, but if you are into horror, you can watch Scream, The Conjuring, It, Get Out, The Exorcist, The Shining, or Paranormal Activity. Aly Bertoch, a freshman at Snow college, says, “ Any Halloween movies put me in the fall mood. They make me want to curl up with a blanket. The two movies that come to mind are The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Quiet Place.” Halloween and horror highlight the fall season, but there is more to the fall mood than spookiness.
Some movies and shows have an aesthetic that gives warm and soft feelings. Many movies and shows are set during the autumn season. There is Edge of Seventeen, When Harry Met Sally, Coco, Knives Out, and Dead Poets Society. Shows like Gilmore Girls, This Is Us, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Only Murders In The Building aren’t entirely set in Autumn, but they’re still filled with warm tones, colorful leaves, and their character's cozy fashion. These shows will bring out the very best of autumn vibes.
Tenney Cook, a freshman at Snow College, says, “Gilmore Girls for sure puts me in the fall mood. Mainly because of the aesthetic of the setting, like fall trees.” There’s nothing better than being surrounded by colorful autumn trees. Experiencing this out in nature and through your favorite show.
If the suggestions above still are not enough, streaming services create their playlist of must-watch movies and shows for the autumn season. The playlists mainly consist of Halloween or horror shows and movies, but you could still find one that won’t scare you. Plus, the playlists offer more than movies and shows. There are also documentaries or short films if that’s more of your thing.
For shows, Netflix has Stranger Things, Fear Street, Scream, The Originals, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and A Series of Unfortunate Events. Hulu has three playlists of scary movies, but they're displayed as Level 1: Scary, Level 2: Very Scary, and Level 3: Very Very Scary. These playlists are a great way to test how you handle scary movies—also an excellent opportunity to invite your friends for a movie night. Everyone can be scared together.
If scary movies aren’t your thing, Hulu also has Hotel Transylvania and Ghostbusters. Disney Plus playlists have all of their original movies, ` like Twitches, Halloween Town, Franken Weenie, Girl vs. Monster, Spooky Buddies, and Hocus Pocus. Not only do they have their Halloween movies, but they also display Halloween episodes of their shows.
Fall is the time to enjoy cozy sweaters, blankets, candles, movies, and shows. Watching movies and shows is a way to relax. Let the chaos around you stop. Get in the mood with shows and movies.
