Remembering Our Veterans

Kennedy Lundeberg

For over 200 years, America has been built upon the thousands of men and women who have sacrificed time and their lives for the betterment of our country.

Today, the US has over 16.8 million veterans and over 1.3 million active duty military in the US. Chances are you know someone who has served or is currently serving, November 11, Veterans Day, is a perfect way to honor and celebrate them.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy, former president of the United States, expressed how to best honor our veterans, stating, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

In today's day and age, we often get so involved in politics and policies we often forget how lucky we are to live in such a blessed land and forget those who fought and continue to fight for it. “Freedom is not free,” and it is imperative to remember those who have paid the price for us and future generations.

As Veterans Day comes and goes and we reflect on those countless lives lost, we must celebrate those who continue to fight and live on after the fighting. We must give thanks and honor those heroes today and forevermore.
