Heather Holland is an English professor here at Snow College. She teaches expository composition, GE foundations FND, and introduction to poetry, Growing up in Tooele, Utah, Heather went on to study at Snow College, where she graduated with her associates in science and general education. After finishing her degree at Snow, she went on to study at UVU, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Studies: English Literature and Anthropology and a Minor in Creative Writing. She then went on to the University of Wyoming, where she graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and a Minor in Gender and Women's Studies. Heather is currently studying at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she is earning her Doctorate of Philosophy—Literature and Criticism.
Heather Holland has a unique technique for grading. Her grading motto is a credit or no credit system where if you show up and turn things in, you will receive credit as opposed to being graded on individual assignments. She also has a unique grading style in the way that at the end of the year she allows students to pick their grades and write a report on why they should have that grade.
Heather has worked in many different fields. Starting off in high school when she worked as a waitress. She went on to be a birth doula, a birth educator, a mom, and now an English professor. In her free time, Heather likes to read, write, hike, play with dogs, and spend time with her family. Heather Holland is a mother to five children ranging in age from 26 to 15. Heather Holland chose to be a teacher because of stories she’d been taught of the impact teachers have on their students' lives. She loves teaching because of her students' varying personalities, ideas, and the opportunity to shape others. She lives by the motto of showing compassion to everyone and everything.
