As a freshman, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed at a new school. To make the transition easier, Shaun Dee, the Hypno Hick was brought onto campus to kick off this spring semester.
Twenty students were chosen to participate in the chaotic trance on January. One of the students lucky enough to be part of the show was Jillian Duthie. She said, “It was so fun and not at all embarrassing. I knew what I was doing but it came so effortlessly!”
It took about six minutes for these students to be hypnotized. From their movements being controlled by a Woody doll from Toy Story to playing an instrument made of air with their tounges and feet, Hypno Hick had something for everyone to enjoy.
Brooke Garrett, a student in the stands, said that the show was, “Amazing and so funny! It was interesting to see everyone’s reactions to the hypnosis!”. Almost anyone can be put into a hypnotic state, but each will have a different way of reacting. During the show Hypno Hick had told the crowd, “Someone goes into hypnosis themselves at least six to ten times a day. What do you think daydreaming is?” He pulled out all the stops to make it the best show possible. Hypno Hick even made it seem like Brittney Spears and her back up dancers took over the main gym!
Hypno Hick’s show was a fun way for to get to know each other. It was a way to bond with students new and old. Students were in awe and cannot wait to see what Hypno Hick does if he comes back next semester.
