The show is centered around the life of Wednesday Addams as she goes to Nevermore for school. Along with going to a school, where she is supposed to fit in better, Wednesday finds herself caught up in the town’s mystery, when people start to get killed by an unknown creature.
Wednesday makes it her mission to discover what is happening in the town, protect her friends, and figure out the connection it has with her parents. In regards to the plot, movie critic Dave Nemetz said, “Wednesday does have a sharp bite to it, capturing the gothic charm of the Addams Family movies.”
Viewers and critics alike had high praise for the show. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the show received a critic score of 72% with viewers giving it a score of 86%. Many relate the popularity of the show to leading lady, Jenna Ortega, who played Wednesday Addams. Ortega portrayed Addams in a unique style with her twist on the classic character.
Though not everyone may be a fan of the show, the popularity of it has allowed it to be renewed for a second season. Netflix posted a teaser saying, “The global phenomenon will return for season 2.”
