Defensive Masterclass Leads to Lady Badger Victory

The Snow College Women’s basketball team traveled to in state Rivel Utah State Eastern to take on the Eagles and Coach Zu’s Team came ready to play.

The Lady Badgers forced 5 turnovers in the first five minutes of play and lead early 6-2. After two and-one plays by freshman Sydnee Smith and a couple of free throws the Badgers lead by 9 15-6 through the first 10 minutes of play.

A defensive clinic was put on by the Lady Badgers, only allowing two Eagle points in the second quarter. Forcing USUE to shoot 1-18 from the field. However, Snow only scored eight points but were able to head into halftime up 23-22.

The Eagles were the aggressors in the third quarter with each team scoring only 11 points in the low scoring affair. The fourth quarter was nearly identical the third except this time the Badgers were able to outscore the Eagles by one point (11-10) and win the ball game 45-32.

Sydnee smith lead all scorers in the game with 11 points on 4-7 shooting from the field and 3-4 from the free throw line, in only 13 minutes of play. It was all collective win for the lady Badgers having all but one player score.

With this win the lady Badgers get their fourth straight win to move to 5-5 in conference play and 16-9 overall. Coach Zu’s team is now tied with USUE for fourth place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference and will battle for the last playoff spot throughout the last 4 games.

Next Thursday, February 20, the lady badgers head to Colorado Northwestern Community College with tipoff scheduled for 5pm. They will then travel to Salt Lake Saturday February 22, starting that game 1pm.
