Home games in sports are seen as a major advantage. However, for the Snow College men’s basketball team, the road games have helped vault the Badgers to stand alone in junior college basketball.

The Badgers played 15 of their first 18 games this season (2024/25) on either a road or neutral court. In that stretch, the Badgers went 17-1 with the only loss coming at the hands of a now top 15 team in Midland College with a final score of 77-70.

In that 18-game stretch, the Badgers went on a five-game road trip to Arizona, winning all five matchups including a win over ranked Eastern Arizona. The Badgers also played in Texas at Odessa College, who was number 10 in the national rankings at the time. That sparked a winning streak that has yet to end and has now tied a school record at 18.

Within this winning streak, the best resume win for Coach May’s team came from playing at Indian Hills Community College winning 93-88. Indian Hills at that time on December 13 was the number five team in the rankings while the Badgers were number three. Snow College and Indian Hills now rank number one and number six.

For head coach Andrew May, who is in his third season at the helm for the Badgers, scheduling was at the forefront of his mind to help his team get comfortable saying “No question the intention to try to go play really good teams early to help us so that when we play the CSI’s and Salt Lakes… made it so that we’re definitely more prepared.”

However, nobody could have predicted the impact that playing those “really good teams” would have on the rest of the Badgers season. Snow College has rattled off 18 straight wins dating back to November 22, including five wins against currently ranked or previously ranked opponents to move to a 25-1 record while holding the number one ranking in the country since the week six rankings released on December 16, 2024.

The Badgers have not lost in a true road game going 12-0 on the season and 5-1 on neutral court games.

After starting 11-0 the Badgers have clinched the Scenic West Athletic Conference regular season crown. Coach May and his team look to continue their dominance and ride a wave of momentum into the national tournament.

The Badgers are looking to close the last two games of the season at home against the College of Southern Idaho on Thursday, February 27, at 7p.m. and against North Idaho College on Saturday, March 1, at 3p.m.
