Pickleball is a sport for everyone at all levels, the young and old, the athletic and unathletic.  Pickleball is a team or individual oriented sport, and many times when at pickleball courts you can find a group of retired friends out to play pickleball. It can be a slow paced game, or if you are as advanced as the elderly who play you can have an effortless face-paced game.

Pickleball originated when a family in Washington state had nothing to do and random equipment lying around. They started playing and by the end of the weekend in 1965 they had created a new sport, and by 1972 pickleball was officially a sport.

According to the US Ameteur Pickleball Association (USPA) “Pickleball is a fun, social, and friendly game! The rules are simple and easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a face-paced, competitive game.” The USAPA has a web page of videos with the rules, tips and tricks, and more about pickleball.

At Snow College there is a Pickleball club where any student is welcome to join. The president is Carter Jones, the Vice President is Levi Covington, and the Secretary is Emmalee Willmore. They meet every Friday at 7:00 pm at the Ephraim, Utah park. Everyone is invited, and encouraged to come and learn or play. Many people are trying out this fun sport and finding it is easy to pick up, and enjoy. Sadie Read plays pickleball two or more times a week; when asked why she said “I love pickleball, it’s so easy to learn and everyone can play it!” Now many sports/ballparks in the state of Utah are starting to include pickleball courts due to its growing popularity.
