Last season, the Snow College football team added a new wide receiver coach, Neil Pau’u. Coach Pau’u, from Orange county California, brings a very impressive resume to the coaching staff. Having played four seasons at BYU, hauling in 126 receptions for over 1,400 yards and 13 touchdowns, as well as playing for the Buffalo Bills organization in the NFL.
Neil Pau’u, found an opportunity at Snow College after leaving the Buffalo Bills. Coach Erikson, the head coach for Snow, reached out to Pau’u offering him the job. Coach Pau’u has enjoyed his time coming to campus. He called Snow “a unique program.” He complimented the Badger fans, being “a small community but regardless, people still come out and support.” Pau’u talked about the difference between living in Ephraim compared to his home in California, “It was exciting to see the excitement when Arbys and Wendys got built here.”
The Wide receiver room has seen the benefits of adding Coach Pau’u. Over the first four games the wide receivers have caught 68 receptions for 958 yards. Completing plays at an impressive rate of almost 15 yards per reception.
Coach Pau’u sees his position as more than just one who teaches routes or trains players. He sees a coach as one who “helps the guys improve in all facets of life” He credits his wide receiver coach at BYU, Fesi Sitake, as his inspiration. He said Coach Sitake “pushed me in other areas besides football.” He said Coach Sitake “knew my football stuff was taken care of, but he pushed me in my personal life, school life, and spiritual life.”
Coach Pau’u and the Badger wide receivers hope to continue their success as they push for their ultimate goal of a national championship.
